Medical trauma

Experiencing a medical trauma can be life altering and leave lasting impacts. Medical trauma is defined as a set of psychological and physiological responses to pain, injury, serious illness, medical procedures, and frightening treatment experiences - International Society for Traumatic Stress Study.

People can experience medical trauma by being diagnosed with an illness such as cancer, undergoing dialysis, giving birth, etc. Pain, fear, and trauma is personal experience and I feel encouraged to bring more awareness. It can be an extremely isolating feeling, which can lead to increased anxiety and depressed feelings. But, you are not alone.

Living with medical trauma can be managed, and it is perfectly normal to experience trauma from facing frightening medical situations. I have worked with a number of clients who experienced medical trauma and would like to continue to support those in need.

There is help and support.
